Danni ChenDanni Chen, BA, MA, EU Diploma
Staff Interpreter

Danni obtained her MA degree together with a Diploma issued by the EU Interpreting Directorate from the EU-China collaborative programme based at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing back in 2011. The Diploma qualifies her for interpreting assignments of the EU. After freelancing for a year in China, Danni wanted to take her career to a new level and applied to KL Communications. She’s interpreted a wide range of subjects from banking/finance, publishing, automobile, energy to media, education and art. Danni is our tri-lingual interpreter.

Claire GaoShan Gao (Claire), BA, MA
Staff Interpreter

After graduating from Leeds University, Claire beat dozens of applicants to join our company in 2012. Since then, she’s interpreted on subjects from aviation, eco-building, to world business council and marine turbines. Her thorough approach to pre-assignment preparation and good communication has won compliments from clients. Her ability to project the speaker and her previous experience in broadcasting make her an excellent choice for assignments involving speaking to an audience – training courses, presentations and dinner events.

Ms Eva Cai, BA, MA
Staff Interpreter

Eva gave up a good job at a leading insurance company in China to obtain her MA in Business Interpreting from the University of Surrey. This is a collaborative degree programme part taught by the team from KL Communications. Eva joined us after completing an eliminatory post MA training programme. Since then, she’s undertaken a wide range of interpreting assignments from finance, aerospace and environment, to TB diagnosis and wine tasting. After interpreting for an etiquette training course, she was asked if she had been trained in posture and manners from a specialist, she replied proudly ‘All my training is from KL Communications’.

Ms Fion Yang, BA
Staff Interpreter

Fion was recruited from an advanced interpreter training course Kevin ran in Shanghai. The foundation of her bi-lingual skills was laid at one of the top English language universities in China. After graduation, Fion worked in a number of roles from team leader at one of the top three translation agencies in China to being a Director’s PA for a British creative agency in Shanghai. In this latter role, she was part of the team that serviced Apple, Hugo Boss and Reebok. She has completed two million words worth of translation to date in addition to interpreting assignments including at the Shanghai Expo in 2010. Her repertoire ranges from automobile, mechanical engineering to finance and banking. She combines interpreting skills with effectiveness in challenging situations. She is a versatile member and an asset of our team.

Ms Tina Murtagh
Business Manager

Tina joined us after seven years at a London law firm where she progressed from Receptionist, Administrator and the de facto Office Manager. As the Business Manager of our company, she’s responsible for the day to day operations, from dealing with enquiries to scheduling of interpreters and delivery of services. She’s the single point of contact between clients and our team. She’s also the nerve centre of the company, deputising for Kevin in his absence. Her 3 year goal is to be able to run the entire company independently. She’s as excited today as when she first joined about her career prospect at KL Communications.
